We’re delighted to announce this year’s selection of art and craft workshops – we’ve lots of fun sessions from comic-making, decoupage and printmaking to life-coaching and poetry walks! There’s something for everyone, including lots of family-friendly sessions.
Saturday 29 July
2pm – Boxing Clever
Come along and create a brilliant keepsake box using decoupage. Use paper, pictures, badges – whatever you want to bling it up! Lots of gluey, sticky, creative fun for indie kids of all ages! (£1 per person for materials)
3pm – Family Dance Party at Indietracks
Join us at an indiepop party for lo-fi kids and their parents/carers! It’s a safe space for babies, toddlers and older children to have a shimmy way before bedtime, with a transport-themed playlist, rugs for the littlest ones to roll around on, and a few toys and crafts for those who don’t fancy getting their dancing shoes dirty. Come along and get practising for all those future indie discos. (Free)
4pm – The Bumper Fun Book of Indietracks!
Help us make a comic at Indietracks! Indietracks is 10 this year, and to celebrate, we want to record the history of the festival in your memories, tall tales and tiny moments of magic! Did you fall in love by the burrito stand, find yourself crammed into a tiny train carriage with your favourite band, or stumble into long-lost friends in the campsite disco? You don’t need to be able to draw to create a great comic, just enthusiastic and with a story to tell! After the workshop, we’ll scan your pages and compile them into one big comic that you can download after the festival and share with your friends. (Free)
5pm – Niall is your life coach 2.0!!!
Last year Niall solved problems. This year he’s causing them! That’s right, it’s Niall, it’s life coaching, it’s 2.0! Niall from The Spook School (with secret guests, possibly, he hasn’t asked them yet) will attempt to coach you to greatness in a gazebo. (Free)
Sunday 30 July
12pm – All Aboard Children’s Poetry Walk and Workshop
The workshop is entirely interactive, with children sharing what they know about poetry before engaging in activities created to teach some fundamentals of poetry. The budding poets shall embark on a short walk to gather words, images, and sounds to create their own poem about Indietracks. Each child will leave with the workshop with a poem along with a magnet to display the poem on the refrigerator at home. (Recommended for children between the ages of 5-10 – Free)
1pm – Give Them A Great Big Quiz
Alright pop pickers? Do you have a wide music knowledge, from the Smiths to the Spice Girls? If so, form a team (max. 6 people) then answer lots of useless Indie and Pop trivia questions for a chance to win some goodies including a trophy. Your quiz hosts are Gareth (a former winning contestant on Radio 2’s Popmaster and forgotten TV show; Mark & Lard’s Pop Upstairs, Downstairs) & Rachael (a former winning contestant on BBC’s Mastermind, who chose Belle & Sebastian, Peel’s Festive Fifty and John Shuttleworth as her specialist subjects!).
2pm – Printmaking Workshop – Tote Bags!
Design your own Indietracks souvenir bag to jam full of souvenirs from the festival!
Come along and try out two different types of printing either using lino stamps and found objects or have a go at a lo-fi no-emulsion screenprinting technique. This workshop is suitable for both adults and children, and will give you a great chance to get creative and make a mess! (Price – up to £5 for materials)
4pm – Tea and Tasseomancy
A swish around the teacup and a fortune told by Rosie of Oh Peas!
We hope you enjoy the workshops! There’s still Indietracks tickets available from our tickets page, and we’re looking forward to seeing you all in a few weeks!
