Our Indietracks 2015 workshops

Workshop3

We’re very pleased to reveal this year’s selection of art and craft workshops – we’ve everything from toy animal making, bunting and flash fiction to quizzes and speed dating. There’s something for everyone, including lots of family-friendly sessions.

Saturday 25 July

2pm – Junk Rock!
Want to know what a strawcorder is, how to make a cup noisy, or build a classic cup telephone? These are just some of things to make and decorate at this junk model musical instrument making workshop aimed primarily at families, but open to kids of all ages. FREE

3pm – It’s All Indie Bunting!
Tart up your tent and make the campsite a more colourful place by creating your own Indietracks bunting! Spell out your favourite band, put the names of your festival friends or design something totally different – the choice is yours! Sew, paint or colour – come along and get creative! Fab fun for all ages. £2

4pm – Niall from The Spook School is…YOUR LIFE COACH!
Come have your ribs tickled and fears assuaged as Niall ramshackles his way through all of your concerns about life, the universe and everything. Expect life lessons and hugs from a sweaty excitable drummer. FREE

5pm – Sing Along Songs with Hammy Styles
“The Hammy Styles DJs are bringing their usual mix of twee punk and pop classics to Indietracks – but with a twist for a festival special; Hammy Styles Karaoke. From Madonna to Martha, Sister Sledge to Joanna Gruesome – the Hammy Styles DJs will bring it all. Impress your friends and lose your inhibitions; become a star for the weekend.” FREE

Sunday 26 July

1pm – YOU! ME! QUIZZING!
Alright pop pickers? Do you have a wide music knowledge, from the Smiths to the Spice Girls? If so, form a team (max. 6 people), create a funny/rude/pun team name then answer lots of useless Indie/Pop trivia questions for a chance to win some stuff. Your quiz hosts are Gareth (a former winning contestant on Radio2’s Popmaster and Mark & Lard’s Pop Upstairs, Downstairs) & Rachael (a former winning contestant on BBC’s Mastermind, who chose Belle & Sebastian and John Shuttleworth as her specialist subjects!). FREE

2pm – Animal Making With Plastic Bottles
Come and turn ordinary household and office waste into an amazing animal with the crazy, creative craft ladies. Once you’ve done this workshop you’ll never look at plastic bottle the same way again. FREE

3pm – She’s Got a Ticket to Write
This flash fiction workshop will draw from the depths of your imagination a page of narrative to be proud of! Using props and prompts Rachel will work with you to craft stories of all genres and styles. If you’ve ever wanted to try writing, or just want a good tale to tell round the fire, this is perfect workshop for you. Suitable for adults and accompanied children aged 8 and over. £1

4pm – Wear Your Heart on Your Cardie…
Show your dedication to the band you love with some home-made knock-off goods… The punks tippexed on their leather jackets while the grungers markered their German army coats, now it’s time for the indie kids to have their day. Join us to make your own one-off fashion statements to show the world just how enormously cool you are. Come armed with cardigan and the logo of your favourite band. Felts, ribbons, pom poms etc are all provided. FREE but bring a cardigan to decorate

5pm – Indiepop Speed Dating – For Friendship and Romance
Do you want to try and talk to that cutie in the Martha tshirt, but you’re feeling shy? Or maybe you wanna make some pals to go to the disco with later because the friends you came with don’t like dancing? Come along and let us make it easy for you to meet a whole room full of fellow indiepop fans, as we provide you with 3 minutes time slots, and indiepop themed ice breaker questions in case you get tongue-tied! We will have stickers for you to write details about yourself (your pronouns, sexuality etc) and whether you are looking for romance or friendship (or both!). Then it’s over to you! This is a queer, trans and poly friendly event, and is open to everyone over 16. (£1 suggested donation, no one turned away for lack of funds).
