A tribute to Helen Smithson

Holly from The Lovely Eggs writes for the Indietracks blog about her friend and Indietracks fan Helen Smithson, who sadly passed away recently…

It is with great shock and deep sadness to hear of the tragic passing away of our friend and honorary egg-ette Helen Smithson.

Helen was a regular at Indietracks and it was at one of our first gigs playing at Indietracks in the steam train carriage that we first met Helen and her partner Stephen. In fact they made up half of our audience!

We soon became firm friends after discovering a mutual love of Mike Leigh’s Nuts in May while necking Strongbow in the railway carriage “bar”. Helen was hilarious. She did the best impression of Keith Pratt ever and we enjoyed her company immensely.

Helen and Stephen went to Indietracks almost every year. You will probably recognise them. She was without doubt the most smart, sassy, cool, creative and funny girl you could hope to hang about with. For us, Indietracks just won’t seem the same without her.

So this year, make sure you raise a glass to Helen. They don’t make many like that one.

Our love goes out to her partner Stephen, her son Sam and all her family. XX
